Position Description:

The primary responsibility of the Advocate is to initiate, organize, plan, develop, and implement direct advocacy services to assigned clients and their families. All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.

Company Information: Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is one of the largest non-profit Youth and Family Support agencies working with high-risk youth and their families in the United States. Currently, YAP employs more than 2,000 dedicated workers and serves approximately 10,000 families per year.  Our mission is to engage human service systems so that they rely less on institutional care and invest more in supporting families and neighborhoods. We currently work with child welfare, juvenile justice, behavioral health, disability, primary health care, and education systems to develop and offer community-based alternatives for the highest risk children, young people, young adults and families, and adults. 

 

Summary of the Position: Hourly, Part-time positions serving youth and families throughout Essex and Newark County are available. Applicant must be dependable, committed, and able to serve as a positive role model for youth in the community, school, and home settings.

 

The primary responsibility of the Advocate is to initiate, organize, plan, develop, and implement direct advocacy services to assigned clients and families. All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap-around model.

 

To commit to weekly supervision, submit weekly work scheduled, ongoing YAP sponsored trainings, clean driving records, and able to pass criminal background checks.

 

The position offers flexible hours, competitive weekly pay and activity reimbursement. 

Required Qualifications:

 Qualifications/Requirements:  High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required. Must have access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and carry auto insurance coverage with a minimum bodily injury liability of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident.

 

Applicants must have a criminal background check and clearances.
