Congratulations to our most recent recipient of the Tom Jeffers Fund for Continuing Education Scholarship, Eugene Marshall. Eugene is a Chicago YAP graduate and freshman at Northern Illinois University where he is majoring in Business. Eugene was referred to YAP in 2010 and worked with Advocate Byron Steele. Director Steve Gates participated in a panel on MSNBC Sunday morning to talk about poverty, education and violence and how programs like YAP, which address people's individual needs and provide intensive services to entire families, can help to alleviate some of the obstacles impoverished children face and give families hope. On the show, he and other panelists recognized how important it is to invest in programs that work to help America's poor.
