YAP hosted a table at Project Self-Sufficiency's annual Back to School Fair to distribute information about the Outpatient program in Morris/Sussex county. We also raffled off a $10.00 gift card to Stop and Shop.  Representative Theresa Gallagher spoke to about 75-100 families, including parents of some YAP graduates.  They had nothing but praise for YAP's services.To learn more about the Back to School fair, read this article from the New Jersey Herald.

Youth from YAP – Middlesex County office participated in the creation of a Healthy Relationships mural in the city of New Brunswick. YAP's Morris Sussex (NJ) office hosted a Paint & Sip fundraiser at a local paint & craft studio called the Painted Grape.  Twenty people attended - some YAP staff and others were friends and supporters of YAP.The class included a 16" x 20" canvas (which each participant was able to keep), brushes, paint & an apron. Holiday Celebrations in Essex/Union NJ

NJ Regional Director Says YAP Helps to Reduce Racial Disparity in the Justice System

A new report fro the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice asserts that racial disparities are overwhelming in the juvenile justice system.  YAP Regional Director Fred Fogg is quoted in this article about how YAP works to engage youth and families in community-based alternatives to incarceration and reduce recidivism.  "White youth involved in juvenile justice issues tend to have better access to diversion programs than African American youth," Fogg said.  Read the full article at NJ TV Online...
