Ulster County NY YAP - Giving Back

Ulster County YAP teamed up with local business in an effort to collect new toys from community members. Multiple local businesses agreed to display gift drop boxes for three weeks and were able to accrue more than $300 worth of gifts for youth ranging in ages from 1 to 18. After the gifts were collected, YAP youth met at the program office and wrapped all of the donated gifts. Youth from Chemung County YAP participated in two exciting community activities.  They had the opportunity to tour the studies of news station WENY News Southern Tier. They also coordinated a clothing drive for their community.  Clothes were donated by families and Plato's Closet, and the drive was run by YAP youth.  It was open to the Elmira, NY community.

After a recent snowstorm that dumped nearly 3 feet of snow on her city, Lebanon, PA mayor Sherry Capello called on Youth Advocate Programs to help dig out the snowed-in residents. Supervised by their advocates, youth in the program provided snow removal service to eldery community members.
