St. Lawrence County Collects Food

St. Lawrence County YAP teamed up with Maurice's clothing store at the St. Lawrence Center Mall in Massena, NY and collected non-perishable food items from November 2 through November 19. St. Lawrence County Teaches Life Skills to Families

Assistant Director Cindy Allen hosted a meeting with the program's families where they discussed important life skills.  They discussed the importance of changing smoke detector batteries, weatherization tips, HEAP applications, and managing anger in children.  They also taught participants how to make soup from common ingredients that most people have leftoever in their pantries.

Orange County YAP Youth Serve Dinner at Elks Lodge

Youth from Orange County YAP in New York recently served dinner to 365 community members at the Middletown Elks Lodge.  The kids helped prepare the meal, set up tables, plated and served salad, dinner, and dessert, and cleaned up after the meal.  This give back activitiy raised money for Access Supports for Living, a local not-for-profit organization that supports individuals and families with medical and behavior challenges.

Franklin County Rebuilds House

When youth in YAP’s Franklin County NY Program joined community volunteers to help rebuild a house, they changed two lives in the process. The homeowner, an elderly woman, cares for her adult grandson who struggles with a disability. Their dilapidated house was nearly condemned and she did not have the means to fix it.
