Atlantic City YAP Receives Grant for Computers

3/12/13  YAP's Atlantic City program was awarded a $38,000 grant from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.  The funds will go toward a new state-of-the art computer lab. Said Director Lamont Fauntleroy, the computer lab will "help young people as far as jobs are concerned...applications are electronic, and some of the our kids...aren't able to have their own computers at home."  More.  Watch local NBC news video.

KIDS COUNT Data Snapshot Looks at Safe Drop in Youth Incarceration

Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. joins the Annie E. Casey Foundation in raising awareness of the declining youth incarceration rate in the United States. In its latest KIDS COUNT data snapshot, the Casey Foundation finds that the rate of young people locked up because they were in trouble with the law dropped more than 40 percent over a 15-year period, with no decrease in public safety. Helping Juveniles in Ohio

Lucas County, OH is one of three counties across the country that is receiving funds through a federal grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency (OJJDP). The funding will be used to treat juvenile offenders who suffer from drug and alcohol problems, according to the Reclaiming Futures model. YAP's Toledo office will serve this population as natural helpers and expect to work with 14 youth a year for the next 4 years. Read more.
