Botvin Life Skills Training is an evidence-based substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the factors that promote risky behaviors. This classroom curriculum is provided to youth attending the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP), which provides an alternative education setting for youth removed from public school.
Botvin Life Skills is a comprehensive and exciting program that provides adolescents with the confidence and skills necessary to successfully handle challenging situations. Specially trained Certified Prevention Specialists provide daily classroom activities designed to:
- Teach participants how to develop greater self-esteem and confidence
- Enable participants to more effectively deal with anger and anxiety
- Increase their knowledge of the immediate consequences of substance abuse
- Increase protective factors in order to prevent high risk behaviors
